If your account is a regular Gmail.com account, or you have setup a "consumer" account for something like iGoogle, that you login from here:
https://www.google.com/accounts/
then use the first option.

If you host your domain on Google, and access mail at a location like this:
https://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com
then use the second option.
