Step 2 of 2. Activate the Data Collector (Windows)
(Note: The RescueTime Data Collector is also available for Mac OSX and Linux )
If you haven't already done so, run the downloaded installer. At the end of the installation process, you'll be asked for your RescueTime.com account info.
|
Put your RescueTime.com account info (email and password) into the appropriate fields and click activate
Most people won't need to enter any proxy information. If RescueTime fails to activate, you may need to get proxy settings from your network administrator. |
 |
"I see 'login failure'!"
99% of the time when a user sees this it means that their RescueTime account email address and password are incorrect. Double check these and try to activate again. If you can't get it to work, please contact us-- we'd love to help.
"I still can't activate!"
If your account information has been entered correctly and you're still having problems it probably means the RescueTime Data Collector can't talk to the RescueTime service. 99.99% of the time, the reason for this is an issue with your proxy server (detailed in the next help question).
First, confirm that your computer can talk to our server
To do this, open a web browser and paste in the following URL:
https://www.rescuetime.com/hello
The result that should be returned back is: "Hello"
If the above test fails then make sure your proxy is allowing traffic to www.rescuetime.com and also that your email address and password are correct. If you need, you can reset your password.
Still Can't Get it to Work?
If you are still having problems, feel free to contact us. Please send us what error message you are seeing. If possible, also send the values you are using on the RescueTime Proxy Settings.
